Child Care

child care

Child care, sometimes called daycare, is the supervision and care of a child or several children at a specific time, whose ages range form from two months to adolescence. Child care is also a broad field that covers a broad spectrum of caregivers, establishments, contexts, tasks, and social and organizational conventions. The scope of child care varies according to state law, which generally regulates child care institutions, but allows for some variation in aspects such as qualifications and services provided. Most child care institutions are non-profit organizations, providing child care programs and services on a profit.

How to do Child Care?

Child care involves educational and physical development activities, as well as social and emotional development. The objective of child care programs is to provide children with a nurturing environment within a safe setting, allowing them to become responsible, competent citizens. Daycare facilities offer a range of child care services and facilities, ranging from early childhood education and development centers, preschools, healthcare services, after school care programs, summer programs and after-school care programs. Some daycare services include child care professionals, licensed child nurses, and child therapists.

Child care professionals help parents in providing child-rearing skills and enhancing parenting skills. They are involved in research and evaluation of programs and services, as well as advising parents on what is best for their child. These professionals also assist students in post-high school programs, elementary schools, secondary schools, and high schools. Child care professionals may work in hospitals, daycare centers, Head Start programs, Head Start organizations, hospitals and other health care facilities, in educational institutions such as grade schools and colleges, and in families’ homes. In the past, child care professionals were mostly employed by daycares, preschools and other educational institutions, but today many child care professionals work in daycare settings as well.
